New Roc Taxi provides transportation services primarily to the New Rochelle and Long Island Sound communities in Westchester County. On February 27, 2024, they sought a loan from Community Capital to cover their business car insurance. At that time, only 4 of their 10 cars were in service, and they needed funding to insure all their vehicles by March 2024 to continue operations. Community Capital approved a microloan and offered technical assistance in creating a business plan.

Since securing their loan, New Roc Taxi has transformed their operations, putting all 10 taxis back on the road to meet the daily transportation needs of the community. By meeting the city’s insurance deadline, they maintained steady revenue and saw steady impact on their daily profits. This financial boost also allowed Lucano to return to his passion for driving, while his wife played a crucial role in managing daily operations. Their teamwork and dedication have revitalized the business, ensuring reliable service for their loyal customers.

Lucano expressed his sincere gratitude for the swift and urgent attention Lisbel Rosario, a CCNY loan officer, gave to his application process. “Both Lisbel and Veronica (a CCNY technical assistance provider) were very understanding of my need to meet the city deadline,” Lucano shared. “They worked tirelessly to ensure I had all the proper documentation to secure my loan.” Their efforts have breathed new life into New Roc Taxi, turning a challenging situation into a story of resilience and community support.
